Device Identifier

AirCast reads the device's ANDROID_ID for a single functional purpose: to provide a stable AirPlay device identity so that Apple devices can recognise and pair with the Fire Stick.

  • Used only for local AirPlay pairing
  • Never transmitted off the device
  • Never sent to any external server
  • Not used for tracking or advertising

Network Permissions

The app requires network permissions for local service discovery only:

  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — Read Wi-Fi connection status and IP address
  • CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE — Enable mDNS (Bonjour) to advertise the AirPlay service on your local network
  • INTERNET — Required by Android for local network sockets. AirCast does not connect to any internet servers.

Local Network Communication

All communication is strictly within your local Wi-Fi network:

  • mDNS service advertisement on port 5353
  • AirPlay protocol communication on port 7000
  • No data is sent to or received from the internet
  • No external API calls, no cloud services, no remote servers

Data Encryption

The AirPlay protocol uses FairPlay encrypted transport for audio and video streams. All media data transmitted between your Apple device and the Fire Stick is encrypted in transit.

Data Deletion

Uninstalling AirCast removes all locally stored data, including AirPlay pairing keys. No data exists outside the device to delete.
